What is Yoga Nidra?
Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation practice. Yoga Nidra means Yogic Sleep and originated in India around 700 BC. It is actually thought to be older as it has been passed down from generation to generation verbally.
Yoga Nidra is a relaxed state of being conciously unconcious. You will be guided on a journey of awareness through your body while you remain still. This practice can be done laying down or seated. All you need to do is listen. Research has proven 20 minutes of Yoga Nidra can be equivalent of 2 hours of REM sleep.
The purpose of this practice is to strengthen neuroplasticity (The brain's ability to reorganize itself by forming new neural connections throughout life). We can rewire negative thought patterns and help reduce stress, improve sleep, reduce depression, and relieve anxiety.
