There is wisdom in why. This past week I had two conversations with yogis asking me why. Questions about their bodies during their yoga practice. I loved helping them understand themselves a little better, but it made me think about the question of why.
Have you ever stopped to consider how truly impactful the power of why can be in our lives? Have you ever thought about why you do what you do? Why do you feel the way you feel or think the way you think? Often, we go through life without questioning our actions or emotions.
Understanding Why with Yoga
Yoga is a practice that teaches us to be mindful and aware of our thoughts, feelings, and sensations. By understanding the “why” behind our behavior, we can become self-aware and connected. But why and how yoga can help us understand why we are the way we are. Finding quiet time on our mat can silence the distractions of the mind and strengthen the connection you have with your higher self. That internal wisdom we do not always listen to.
- The why of our personality: Our personality is a combination of our genetic makeup and life experiences. By understanding why we have certain traits, we can cultivate self-acceptance and compassion. Through yoga, we can observe our behavior and tendencies without judgment. This process of self-inquiry can lead to self-realization and personal transformation.
- The why of our feelings and sensations in yoga: As we move through different yoga poses, we may experience a range of emotions and sensations. By tuning into our bodies and breathing, we can understand why certain poses feel challenging or calming. We may also uncover emotions that have been buried deep within us. By acknowledging and processing these emotions, we can release tension and find inner peace.
- Why our breath is powerful: The breath is a powerful tool for regulating the nervous system and calming the mind. In yoga, we learn to breathe consciously, which helps us connect to our inner wisdom and intuition. By understanding the why behind our breath, we can use it to manage stress and anxiety.
- Why yoga helps with trauma: Trauma can affect every aspect of our being – physical, mental, and emotional. Yoga is a gentle and holistic practice that can help us heal from past traumas. By understanding the why behind our trauma responses, we can learn to regulate our nervous system and feel more balanced.
The wisdom of why is a valuable tool for self-discovery and personal growth. Yoga can help us understand why we are the way we are and how to cultivate positive change in our lives. By tuning into our body, breath, and mind, we can develop a deeper awareness of our inner world. Through this process, we can become more compassionate towards ourselves and others. So, take a deep breath, and ask yourself, “Why?”

Prenatal Yoga
Join Carrie for a 5-week prenatal yoga series. Each class will be 75 minutes with 35 minutes of slow flow and strengthening yoga followed by yin and yoga nidra. This class will be centered around changing the pregnant body and increasing stability while also relaxing the mind for optimal pregnancy and childbirth. The benefits of prenatal yoga include decreased stress, increased happy hormones, better sleep, increased lung capacity, and increased stability. Carrie is a 200hr RYT, Reiki Master, Prenatal Yoga & Doula Certified.
Arm Balance Workshop
Take your practice upside down with yoga inversions and arm balance poses! This fun and challenging workshop will teach you how to approach a variety of arm balances with greater confidence and ease. The class will include a Vinyasa-style warm-up, a breakdown of the most popular yoga arm-balance poses, and savasana with a sound bowl bath.

Intro to Aerial
Are you curious to try Aerial Yoga for the first time or want to establish a solid foundation in this unique practice? This workshop is designed to give you a clear foundation of Aerial Yoga while having lots of fun!
Intro to Aerial will take you to new heights with yoga asanas practiced with the suspension of the aerial hammock. Class is structured for those new to aerial yoga and who want to feel the stretch and benefits of yoga with the support of the silk holding you up.
Class includes a warm-up, a guided sequence of asanas in the silk, and is followed by a floating Savasana and sound bath.
Summer Solstice Sound Bath
Join Mallory for this 90-minute Summer Solstice class celebrating our inner power and light. We will start out with a yin yoga practice allowing the body to release and settle into our yoga nidra meditation. Then we will enjoy the sounds of the therapeutic crystal bowls.
Sound therapy is based on the idea that every part of your body creates a vibration that resonates in a certain way. Sound healing works by sending sound waves throughout the body, helping restore balance at a cellular level. During sound meditation, the client starts out in a beta state (thinking), then starts to move into an alpha state (passive), and finally into a theta-deep relaxation state.
The benefits include nervous system restoration, better sleep, increased brain wave frequency, and decreased stress and anxiety. Feel free to bring blankets, pillows, essential oils, or anything else to make your practice more comfortable.
