Uplifting: How Yoga can lift you up literally. Our daily routines can really take a toll on our physical and mental health. Gravity is always dragging us down. It’s vital to take a break and find ways to uplift ourselves. There is no better way to do that than through yoga. Not only does it teach us how to connect the mind and body, but it can lift us up literally.

You might not know this, but some yoga positions can make you taller, stretch your muscles, and strengthen your core, spine, and joints. As you practice, your focus goes to areas of the body that are usually ignored, and that’s where the magic happens. Bandhas are regions in the body that are used to lift us up. They reside in the same area as a chakra, allowing us to use an energetic lock to help us float. This technique helps to improve body alignment and relieve tension in the hips, lower back, and shoulders.

It’s not just the physical aspect of yoga that provides uplifting effects. When we practice yoga, it helps us release endorphins, the feel-good neurotransmitters that make us happy. These hormones reduce the sensation of pain, regulate our mood, and improve our overall sense of well-being. Regularly practicing yoga produces a consistent flow of endorphins, which combats anxiety, stress, and depression. This psychological upliftment in yoga is all part of the overall wellness effect that keeps bringing happy yoga practitioners back to the mat.

At Sunshine, we’ve added an additional benefit of using aerial fabric to lift us up and help us fly. Our classes incorporate traditional yoga poses with the support of the hammock to create a unique experience. It not only revitalizes tired muscles but also helps us let go of attachment and fear, making it more accessible for everyone to try out yoga. Aerial inversions can stimulate the lymphatic system, improving circulation and detoxifying the skin.

Yoga is not just a work-out but a work-in. It’s an advanced practice system encompassing the mind, body, and soul. By bringing awareness to the bandhas, focusing on our breath, and using the hammocks for an uplifting experience, we can take advantage of all that yoga has to offer. Its benefits can be measured on physical, psychological, and energetic levels. A visit to Sunshine can truly elevate your life.
