Aerial Under the Sun at Music Alley

I don’t know how I got so lucky to be part of something like this.

Every week, I get to show up with an incredible group of people who are willing to climb, spin, swing, laugh, trust, fall, try again, and share their love for aerial yoga with the world. What started years ago as another way to deepen a yoga practice has evolved into something so much bigger than I ever imagined. It became art. It became expression. It became community.

And somehow… people actually want to come watch us do it.

Saturday night at Music Alley in Historic Downtown Mansfield was one of those moments that reminds me exactly why I love this so much. The music filled the streets, artists with their art, families gathered all along Walnut Street, and under the lights, 13 amazing women took to the silks and performed their hearts out.

Mallory, Megan, Katelyn, Kristina, Pat, Ivy, Madison, Lena, Morgan, Mary, Te’, Maggie, and myself all stepped into the air with nervous excitement, adrenaline, and joy. One by one, each performer brought her own personality and energy to the fabric. Some performances were graceful and flowing. Some were powerful and dynamic. Some were playful. Some were emotional. Every single one was brave.

And the crowd cheered loudly for all of it.

That’s the thing about aerial yoga that people don’t always realize. Yes, it builds strength. Yes, it improves flexibility and confidence. But beyond all of that, it gives people permission to take up space. To move differently. To express themselves. To feel powerful in their own body.

There’s something beautiful about watching someone discover they are capable of more than they thought possible.

Music Alley itself was incredible this year. The beautiful weather brought out crowds, creating an electric vibe that made the entire evening feel alive. Mansfield truly knows how to show up for community events. Angie with Mansfield Events and Visit Mansfield and her team

If you missed it this year, put it on your calendar for next year. Seriously. It’s one of the coolest events in Mansfield (next to the Pickle Parade) and such a great reminder of how important art, movement, music, and community really are.

And if watching the aerial performers sparked something in you — curiosity, excitement, maybe even that little voice saying “I wish I could do that” — this is your sign.

You can.

Aerial yoga is for beginners, too. Every single performer you saw started somewhere. Usually nervous. Usually unsure. Usually convinced they “weren’t strong enough” or “could never do that.”

And then one class turned into another.

And another.

And eventually… they were flying above a cheering crowd in downtown Mansfield.

Funny how life works like that sometimes.

We have aerial yoga classes all week long at Sunshine Yoga Shack, and we would love to help you begin your own journey into the fabric.

Who knows… maybe next year, we’ll be cheering for you too. (or our Showcase os October 3rd)
