This week marks 14 years since I started Sunshine Yoga Shack in 2012—the week I began teaching yoga and took that first step toward everything we share today. 

Thank you to my ride-or-die husband (it was really his idea). He never lets me give up. 🙂

I could never have imagined all the faces, friendships, and possibilities that would grow from that one beginning. But when I look around Sunshine now, I see the reasons I keep going.

I see the yogis who walk through our doors, each bringing a different energy, a different story, and their own wonderfully unique vibe. All of you are unique and beautiful. You are the pulse of the studio.

I see our new teachers in training discovering their voices and our advanced trainees finding new depth in their practice and teaching.

I see the first-time aerial students looking at the silk and thinking, “You want me to do WHAT?” And I see our dedicated, incredible performers who once stood in that same spot, now rocking the Showcase stage and blessing us with every performance and demo. Watching that transformation never gets old.

And then there are our Sunshine teachers. They show up to hold space, lead with care, and help us make a little more sense of our minds, our bodies, and this wild world we live in. What you give reaches far beyond the time on the schedule. You touch lives, including mine.

I’ll be honest: some days, running a business is a heavy load. Paying the studio bills, caring for this space, supporting our teachers, and making sure our members feel welcome and valued takes a lot of energy—and a whole lot of heart.

Then I look around the room.

Someone takes a breath they didn’t realize they were holding. Someone tries something they were certain they couldn’t do. A new friendship forms. Laughter breaks out. A student leaves feeling a little more at home in their body.

And there it is. The reward. (I get paid in vibes)

Sometimes it is breathtaking. Sometimes it is pure joy. Sometimes it is simply that long, satisfying exhale at the end of the day: This mattered. This was time well spent.

Whatever Sunshine has given you, please know you have given so much back to me.

We would not be here without you showing up.

Every class you attend, friend you invite, encouraging word you share, and teacher you support helps keep this place alive.

So please, keep showing up. For yourself. For your teachers. For this studio and the community we keep building together. Bring your tired days, your joyful days, your messy days, and your “I almost stayed on the couch” days. There is room for all of it here.

Thank you for 14 years of movement, courage, connection, and Sunshine. That first step in 2012 brought me here—and I am deeply grateful it brought me to you.
