Sunshine Yoga Shack opened the doors to our brick-and-mortar studio in January 2017, and that fall, we held our very first aerial showcase. 

Our aerial performances have come a long way since that first night, but one thing has always been true: it is one heck of a party!

Have you ever taken an aerial class or watched someone perform in the silks? It is honestly amazing what these performers can do in the air. They climb, twist, flip, drop, dance, and somehow make it all look effortless—even though those of us who have tried it know it absolutely is not!

Every performance is different. Some are beautiful and graceful, some are dramatic, some are funny, and some make the whole room gasp. The performers choose their own music, create their routines, add their personalities, and put together something that is completely their own. You never really know what is coming next, which is exactly what makes the showcase so entertaining.

And you do not have to know anything about aerial yoga to enjoy it. You just need to come ready to have fun, cheer loudly, and be amazed by what our students can do.

This year, we are turning Sunshine Yoga Shack into a Spooky Speakeasy for a haunted night of devilish performances, cocktails, snacks, laughter, and maybe a few surprises. We will dim the lights, bring out the spooky decorations, turn up the music, and transform the studio into something you have never seen before.

The showcase is also one of the best opportunities to spend time with our Sunshine family outside of class. So often, we see one another while we are running in to roll out a mat or rushing out to get to the next thing. This is a chance to slow down, have a cocktail, visit with the people you practice beside, meet some new friends, and enjoy a really fun night together.

That is one of my favorite things about the showcase. Of course, I love watching our performers take the stage and seeing all of their hard work come together. But I also love looking around the event and seeing our Sunshine people laughing, talking, cheering, and enjoying being together. It feels like a big Sunshine family party—because that is exactly what it is.

Our performers have been working hard, choosing music, creating routines, practicing transitions, and building the courage to perform in front of a crowd. Some have performed before, and for others, this will be their very first time. Either way, they deserve a full house and a loud, enthusiastic audience cheering them on.
