Lynn Rozak and Jennifer Sharts, Lead Teachers with Sunshine School of Yoga

I am so happy to include Jennifer Sharts as one of the lead teachers of our yoga school. Jennifer is now an E-RYT-500 Yoga Teacher registered through Yoga Alliance. This designation gives Jennifer the ability to train yoga teachers. Jennifer was one of the first Yoga Teachers to graduate from Sunshine School of Yoga in 2017, and she continues to have a great thirst for knowledge. Having multiple teacher trainers gives Sunshine School of Yoga the benefit of adding to our training program and curriculum.

The Desire to Teach

Let’s explore the power of yoga, from the desire to teach and beyond. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned practitioner, there’s always more to learn and experience about this ancient practice. I find the more I know, the more I want to know.

One of the most common reasons people want to become a yoga teacher is an insatiable hunger for knowledge – a desire to expand one’s understanding of yoga beyond what can be accomplished through individual practice and attending sporadic classes. As you dive deeper into the practice of yoga, you begin to realize that there is so much more to it than meets the eye. Learning about its history, philosophy, and anatomy can be incredibly rewarding and can help elevate your own practice to the next level.

Another reason why people choose to become yoga teachers is that they want to learn more about the science and research behind its transformative effects on the brain. Recent studies have shown that regular yoga practice can change the structure and function of key areas of the brain, resulting in enhancements to cognitive functioning, memory, attention, and emotional regulation. By understanding the specifics of how and why yoga works, you can communicate this knowledge to your students and help them to achieve the same benefits.

For those who are passionate about yoga and want to take their practice to the next level, becoming a registered yoga teacher can be a deeply rewarding experience. It’s not just about the advanced physical practice but also about gaining a greater understanding of the mind-body connection and developing the skills to teach and share that knowledge with others. Moreover, teaching yoga can be a fulfilling and meaningful profession that allows you to help others improve their physical and mental well-being.

If you’re passionate about yoga and want to share its benefits with others, becoming a certified yoga teacher may be a logical next step. Yoga Alliance is the largest international nonprofit organization that provides standards for yoga teacher training programs and certifies yoga teachers. To become a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT), you need to complete a 200-hour training from a registered school of yoga. This program covers the fundamentals of yoga, including asanas, pranayama, anatomy, philosophy, teaching methodology, and ethics.

Advanced Knowledge for Yoga Teachers:

Once you’ve completed the 200-hour YTT, you may want to deepen your knowledge and skills by enrolling in a 300-hour YTT or advanced training program. These programs focus on specific aspects of yoga, such as advanced asanas, restorative yoga, prenatal yoga, or yoga therapy. They also provide opportunities to explore yoga philosophy, Sanskrit, and Ayurveda. Advanced training programs can help you develop a unique teaching style, build confidence, and connect with like-minded yogis. Check out our 300-hour training program details below.

The Yoga Alliance and Registered Schools of Yoga

Yoga Alliance has set standards for registered schools of yoga, ensuring that they prepare their students to teach safe and effective yoga classes. Registered schools must have a curriculum that meets the Yoga Alliance standards, employ qualified yoga teachers, and maintain ethical business practices. When you choose a registered school, you can be confident that you’ll receive quality yoga education and certification that is globally recognized.

Transforming Your Life with Yoga:

Whether you choose to practice yoga for personal growth or become a yoga teacher, there’s no doubt that yoga has the power to transform your life. Through yoga, you can learn to cultivate mindfulness, embrace your physical and mental limitations, overcome challenges, and connect with your true self. You can also build a supportive community of fellow yogis who share your values and goals. The journey of yoga is not always easy, but it’s always rewarding.

Yoga is a practice that requires commitment, discipline, and an open mind, but it also offers immense benefits for personal growth and well-being. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced yogi, there’s always more to discover and learn about this ancient practice. So, embrace your desire for knowledge.
