From the early days of being a mother, when I was knee-deep in the whirlwind of raising three rambunctious children, to now, when I revel in the deep satisfaction of adult conversations with my grown children around the dinner table, each age has been my favorite. At each stage of growth, I have soaked up every moment. I’ve grown alongside my children, always finding new ways to connect and support them.
My yoga practice has given me the gift of mindfulness. It has taught me to slow down and breathe through the precious moments when my children were babies and every mindful moment along the way. By doing so, I was able to appreciate the beauty of all the little experiences and sensations that life has to offer and store them in my heart and soul forever.
But that mother’s love doesn’t stop with my human kids; it extends to the four-legged members of our family, too. Being a dog mom to three precious fur babies has shown me a different way to ‘mother.’ Yes, the rules might have been slightly different (okay, maybe more than a tad), but spoiling the pups in a way I never did to my human children brings me joy.
The Sunshine Tribe, our wonderful community, extends a heartwarming Happy Mother’s Day to all. Whether you’re a pet parent, a parent to human children, or play a motherly role in any capacity, we honor you today. Motherhood comes in many shapes and forms, but the essence remains the same—unconditional love and a willingness to make the world a better place, one child (or fur baby) at a time.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there—today is for you mindful mama.
