Hello September, What's your perspective?
What is your perception of the world around you? How do you perceive the situations you encounter daily? Our perception at any given moment is shaped by the entirety of our life experiences. The way we’ve been treated, the challenges we’ve faced, and the joys we’ve known all contribute to the lens through which we see the world.
Today is September 1st, and while we perceive it as the beginning of fall, here in Texas, the temperatures remain hot, and fall doesn’t officially begin until the 22nd. Yet, for me, the perceived change excites me for the coming shift, as it signals a transition not just in the seasons, but also within ourselves.
Often, our lens of the world becomes clouded. When we’ve been treated in a certain way, it’s easy to expect every situation or person we encounter to follow the same pattern. We might approach new experiences with a sense of caution or a preconceived notion, believing that history will repeat itself. This isn’t just about how we view others; it also influences how we see ourselves. We might limit our potential or shy away from opportunities because of past disappointments or criticisms.
But what if we could clear that lens? What if we could see each moment, each interaction, and even ourselves with fresh eyes, free from the distortions of past experiences?
This is where yoga comes in. The practice of yoga goes beyond the physical postures; it’s a journey inward. Through mindful movement, breathwork, and meditation, yoga helps us peel away the layers of conditioning that cloud our perception. It teaches us to be present, to observe without judgment, and to experience life as it truly is.
As we continue to practice yoga, we begin to see the world more clearly. We start to understand that not every situation is the same and that we are not defined by our past. Our perception becomes clearer, more refined. We begin to see ourselves not as a collection of past experiences, but as individuals with infinite potential and a fresh perspective on life.
So, the next time you step onto your mat, take a moment to reflect on your perception. Notice how your experiences might be influencing your view of the world and yourself. And as you move through your practice, allow yoga to clear the fog and bring clarity to your mind, body, and spirit.
