Like sand through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives… We lost some of our daylight hours this weekend, and with the encroaching darkness, it’s time to slow down and prepare for the holiday season. If you feel like time is moving too fast, you are not the only one. How do we slow down the important moments and make them last?

According to an ancient theory, we are born with a fixed number of breaths during our lifespan. Some of us take shallow, rapid breaths and speed up our precious time on earth (in theory). What if we slow down? If we take slow, mindful breaths, we can extend our lifespan. This is where yoga comes in. The practice of yoga focuses on breath control, or pranayama, which can help regulate our breathing patterns and improve our overall health.

Breathing is an essential function of the human body, and we do it unconsciously. However, by being mindful of our breathing patterns and helping them slow down, we can improve our health and extend our lifespan. Slowing down our breath in a moment can also help us remember the moment by being mindful of all the details and having that moment live forever deep in our hearts.

In today’s world, we are constantly bombarded with stimuli. It can be overwhelming. Yoga allows us to unplug and be in the present moment. When we step on our mats, we leave everything else behind, slow down, and focus on ourselves. It’s a time to escape from the outside world and tune in to our inner selves. This makes yoga a practice and training for slowing down off of the mat and in the real world.

Not only does yoga help us slow down, but it also has numerous health benefits. It can improve flexibility, strength, and balance. It can also reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. Studies have shown that the practice of yoga can lower cortisol levels, the hormone associated with stress. When we take care of our bodies and minds, we feel better both physically and mentally.

In a world that constantly tells us to do more, be more, and achieve more, it’s important to take a step back and slow down. Yoga gives us the opportunity to do just that. So, let’s fall back, slow down, and take a deep breath.

Are you looking to get out of your head and into your body? Join Lynn in this two-hour workshop as she guides you through the ancient art of Thai Body Work, which is designed to calm the mind and help release tension from the body.

Using mindful pressure points and gentle rocking motions, partners will be encouraged to let go of stress and reconnect with themselves and their partners.

Wear comfortable clothing and bring someone you feel comfortable touching. Each partner will have a turn as we move through a sequence of techniques to move the body in a relaxed environment.
